Division & Multiplication (2)

Example problems

1.  Make groups.  Then write down the division and multiplication facts that the pictures are illustrating.
Make groups of four.
__ × 4 =  8
8 ÷ 4 = __

Make groups of two.
__× 2 = __
__÷ 2 = __

__× 4 = __
__÷ 4 = __

__× 7 = __
__÷ 7 = __

 2.  Now draw sticks or balls and make a picture yourself.  Make groups.  Write the division and multiplication sentences.
Draw 27 sticks.  Make groups of 9.

Draw 32 sticks.  Make groups of 16.
Draw 8 sticks.  Make a group of 8.

Draw 18 sticks.  Make groups of 9.

3.  For each multiplication fact, write also a division fact. Think about the groups!
7 × 2 =
__ ÷ 2 = __

10 × 6 =
__ ÷ __ =
12 × 2 =
__ ÷ 2 =

1 × 5 =
__ ÷ __ =
8 × 5 =
__ ÷ 5 =

11 × 3 =
__ ÷ __ =

You can solve a division problem if you think of the multiplication problem.
30 ÷ 6 = __  Think: what times 6 is 30?
__  × 6 = 30

4.  For each division, think of the corresponding multiplication and solve.
14 ÷ 2 =
__ × 2 =  14

18 ÷ 6 =
__ × __ =
18 ÷ 2 =
__ × 2 =

24 ÷ 4 =
__ × __ =
15 ÷ 3 = __ × 3 =

33 ÷ 3 =
__ × __ =

5.  Again think of the multiplication but do not write down the multiplication fact.
24 ÷ 4 =16 ÷ 2 =
20 ÷ 2 =
36 ÷ 9 =
48 ÷ 6 =56 ÷ 8 =
81 ÷ 9 =
100 ÷ 10 =
