Division and Multiplication

You can get both a multiplication fact and a division fact from the same picture: Three groups of 4 is total 12. 3 × 4 = 12 12 divided into groups of 4 is three groups. 12 ÷ 4 = 3

Two groups of 6 is total 12. 2 × 6 = 12 12 divided into groups of 6 is two groups. 12 ÷ 6 = 2	Five groups of 2 is total __. __× 2 =__ __ divided into groups of 2is ___ groups. __÷ 2 =__
One group of 4 is total 4. __× 4 =__ 4 divided into groups of 4 is one group. __÷ 4 =__	__ groups of     is total __. __×__ =__ __ divided into groups of     is ___ groups. __÷__ =__

Multiplication and division are very closely related.  They are the opposite operations. You could say division is "backwards" multiplication.
